Totes Absorbs! Designed this figure for Nickelodeon’s “Best Year Ever” to celebrate Spongebob’s 20th Anniversary. The goal was to position Spongebob in an art and design context without losing any of his buck-toothed charm. We proposed this clear form made of ABS plastic filled with a real kitchen sponge. Paint application was minimal. The effect was astounding and the toy quickly sold out, spurring the release of multiple colorways and an expansion of the concept to other Spongebob characters.
